Welcome, my name is Eira Simmer.

I’m an author of Viking fantasy romance who lives in the woods with my fiancé and my (ever-hungry) cat, Ellie. For years I have painted in oils and cultivated a deep interest in herbalism.

I grew up obsessed with pagan mythology. Living in the Norwegian mountains and among ancient Viking mounds has shaped how I see the world. So much around us tells a story.

Great journeys, gods, and goddesses have always captured my imagination, but what fascinates me most are the paths walked by us humans:

Love, loss, courage, desire. The urge to defy destiny and reach for something even when it costs us. The struggles and passions of our ancestors still live within us today, textures of life that are shared beyond culture and time.

I find the lives of women to be an endless well of inspiration. Their strength and hunger, their lust and longing, their intuition and jealousy, all part of the same flame. These emotions are not flaws to be buried but the heartbeat of what makes us who we are.

Creating romantasy lets me weave these threads into something both fierce and tender, intimate stories where heart and myth intertwine. Stories where every spark of love becomes a small act of rebellion against fate.

  • It’s the first novel in a Norse Romantic Fantasy series set in the valley of Opdal. The story follows Kilda, a young woman drawn into a web of gender-roles and (abuse of) power in early Scandinavia.

    As her Seidr-powers grow, so does her ability to trust.
